Our Mission

Outstanding Customer Service
Our customers are our #1 priority. These days it seems our world is driven by “bigger, faster, cheaper” and the customer experience is a low priority. This happens in smaller shops too: how many times have you walked into a music store and felt ignored because you aren’t one of the “regulars”? Whether you’re a young beginner or a seasoned pro, our goal is to make sure our customers feel welcome and appreciated.

Top Quality Guitars & Accessories
We personally select each instrument we sell, and we’re very picky about the guitars we buy or take in on trade. There are fantastic instruments at all price points and we strive to have a good selection for players of all levels to choose from. Our in-house built guitars are made from the best components in the industry. All parts and accessories we offer are the highest quality and most dependable (aka “road worthy”) products we can find.

Professional Repair & Maintenance
We offer a wide selection of services to keep your guitar performing at it’s best. Our work is complete, thorough, and professional. We have over 25 years of guitar tech and repair experience and we focus our services list on those things we do best. Sometimes, a job may require specialized expertise. In that case, we won’t waste your time – we’ll help you get to the right person/shop who can help.

F.A.Q.
Where is Northwest Music located?
We are located in Olympia, Washington.
Do you have a physical store location?
Currently, we are online only for retail sales (through this website and our Reverb store), though repairs are done in a workshop in Olympia. We expect to secure a storefront that is suitable for both retail sales and repairs in 2025.
Why don’t you charge sales tax on out-of-state orders?
The recent laws requiring companies to collect sales tax for out-of-state transactions include a threshold (also called a “nexus”) that companies must meet before they are required to collect taxes. For example, a company has to sell $500,000 worth of goods to the state of Texas before it is required to collect Texas sales tax. Many online retailers have adopted this practice of charging out-of-state sales tax even if they never meet the threshold. We don’t agree with that practice, so since we know we don’t meet the nexus threshold amounts, we don’t collect sales tax for any shipments outside of Washington.
What is your shipping policy?
Small item orders are shipped USPS Ground. Larger orders may ship USPS or FedEx Ground, depending on cost and location. Instruments are exclusively shipped through FedEx Ground. Every shipment is fully insured and will include tracking. Expedited services are available, please contact us for rate quotes. Most items ship within 24 hours of payment (except weekends).
What is your shipping policy outside the US?
Orders can be shipped outside the US but buyers must be aware that, since each item is fully insured, we declare that insured value on the package. This means you may be subject to import/customs fees when the item arrives. Please contact us for a quote.
