We're Actively Buying/Trading Used Guitars
Have a guitar that you want to sell or trade? Let us know! Many guitar shops these days are limiting their intake of used guitars, but there's a good chance that we can help you out. Here's some guidelines on what we are looking for:
Condition: Guitars must be in very good condition, at a minimum. No headstock breaks, no major damage to the body or neck, no missing manufacturer logos, etc.
Brands: There are hundreds of guitar brands on the market, but the reality is that many of them are relatively unknown. For example, Amazon sells a lot of import guitars from brands that few people have heard of. We look for guitars from brands like Fender, Squier, G&L, Gibson, Epiphone, Paul Reed Smith, MusicMan, Sterling, Ibanez, Jackson, Charvel, Schecter, ESP, LTD, Gretsch, EVH, Yamaha, etc. Let us know what you have and we'll give you a fair evaluation.
Vintage guitars: There's a lot that goes into the evaluation of vintage guitars, but we love the guitars from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Guitars from the '80s are pretty much considered vintage now, so fluorescent pink and highlighter yellow guitars are ok too.
Basses: The same guidelines for guitars applies to basses as well.
Acoustic guitars: We have to be more selective with acoustic guitars because build quality and choice of materials used are very important to the tone, playability, and lifespan of the guitar. We generally stick with the well-established brands here as well.
Amps and effects: Amps just aren't cost-effective for shipping, since many of our customers are outside the Olympia area. There may be some exceptions, like vintage Fenders or Marshalls, but we can discuss it. Effects pedals are welcomed!
Determining Value
Once we evaluate your guitar, we determine a value. We start with a wholesale price, which is 50% of the average selling price of a similar guitar. So, if you have a PRS SE Silver Sky and they are selling between $500 to $600, the average will be $550 and our starting offer will be $275. That's the wholesale price we start with. Depending on the condition of the guitar, what is included, and how popular it is, we can give you more for the guitar. If that same PRS is in mint condition and includes the original gig bag, tags, and tools, we may offer up to $400.
In some cases, we may have to offer less than wholesale. It doesn't happen often, but if the guitar has issues or there's no demand in the market for that guitar, we may offer less or not be able to take it at all.
We want this evaluation process to be as transparent as possible so our customers have realistic expectations when working with us.
Getting Paid
Once we make a deal, payment to you can be in the form of store credit, cash (in some cases), Paypal, or CashApp.
