If you've been searching for a guitar with a certain combination of woods, a particular set of features, or a unique set of pickups or wiring, then you came to the right place! At Northwest Music, we can custom build a guitar or bass that has the special features you are looking for.

Iconic Shapes

Body shapes such as the Strat, Tele, and Jazzmaster are timeless for a reason. They're beautiful, functional, and the selection of aftermarket parts is nearly endless. They can be designed and built to vintage specs or to include modern features like forearm/belly contours, 2-post bridges, compensated saddles, etc.

Unique Woods

Many production guitars are made using woods like alder and maple - primarily because they are easy to work with and readily available in mass quantities. However, if you want something different, like lightweight southern swamp ash body or an all-rosewood neck, you often have to go the custom/boutique route. We can help you source the tonewoods that meet your needs.

Custom Pickups/Electronics

In many cases, the standard electronics that come with entry-level or mid-level production guitars are good, but not great. Don't just settle for "good" electronics - a great set of electronics and pickups can improve the tone of any guitar. Plus we offer wiring configurations that give you more tonal options. 4-way switching in a Tele, HSS with auto-split bridge in a Strat, there's so many options!

Pickups are an entirely personal preference. We can help guide you to the sound you're looking for and provide some options, but we have no limitations on the pickups used. We do have our favorites, though.

Highest Quality Components

All of the parts used to build your custom guitar are from the best companies in the industry. Build-to-order bodies and necks are made by Musikraft, USACG, Warmoth, and Wildwood. We can also use parts supplied by the customer.

For hardware, bridges, and tuners, we prefer Gotoh but we also like Kluson, Mastery, Rock Rabbit, Callaham, and Fender USA. For electronics, we use CTS pots, Switchcraft and Oak Grigsby switches, and Sprague and Centralab capacitors.

Coming Soon

In early 2025, we will be launching our own line of custom guitars. We are currently creating the designs and working with OEMs to supply us with the components. These will not be your typical Strat or Tele shape guitars, they are unique to Northwest Music and will have their own brand name. We're excited to bring these to you and we'll update this page as we get closer to launch!
